A Federal Tax was proposed in the Senate of The United States of America, to tax Tobacco products accross the country. The Proposed funds would be then used to pay for a Federalized Childrens Health Care Program. The "SCHIP" bill would require 40 billion dollars to cover the burden.
-53.13% tax on handmade cigars
-$2.8126 per pound tax on pipe tobacco
-$8.9286 per pound tax on roll-your-own cigarette tobacco
-$0.626 tax on cigarette papers/tubes per every fifty
-$0.50 tax per pound on chewing tobacco
-$1.50 per pound tax on snuff tobacco
-$1.00 tax per pack on cigarettes
This is a nation wide bill, not only affecting U.S. citizens, but also affecting the highly sought after jobs of the cigar rolling countries.
These countries, just to name 3, honduras, Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua will suffer the most. If this Socialized Health Care program is allowed to discriminate against adult smokers in this Country it will undoubtable force many businesses that rely on tobacco to dissappear.

You may want to tell your legislator:
1. Stop targeting adult smokers with increased taxes and start finding stable revenue solutions to support the budget.
2. New Jersey's cigarette excise tax is already well beyond the National average of $8.70 per carton.
3. Increasing the State's cigarette tax will unfairly burden New Jersey's adult smokers.
